Getting to Sixth Form 

It’s up to you to sort out your transportation to and from Dallam School; the school doesn’t handle that.  

Private transport arrangements are made with KT’s Coaches for students from Kendal, Grange/Lindale, or North Lancashire.  

If you live outside these areas and are over 3 miles away from Dallam School, or if your walking route is unsafe, you can apply for free transport through Westmorland and Furness Council.  

Free transport is provided for students residing in communities such as Arnside, Sedgwick, Levens, Stainton, Meathop, Holme, and Witherslack. For those living in Burton and Endmoor, please check arrangements with Westmorland and Furness Council.

16-19 bursary fund 

A number of council and private bus routes serve Dallam School.  

Dallam School receives funding from the Department for Education to provide financial support for young people aged between 16 and 19 to stay in education. If students are eligible, financial assistance may be available for travel costs. 

There are two types of bursaries available:  

• A vulnerable bursary  
• A discretionary bursary  

The bursary can be used to help with costs students face during the academic year. They include the following:  

• School meals purchased in the school canteen (unless you qualify for a free school meal). 
• Cost of transport to and from school. 
• Books and educational resources. 
• Cost of attending university interviews or open days. 
• Help with educational trips and visits related to your course. 
• Childcare costs for young parents in receipt of Care to Learn (where costs exceed the weekly maximum rates for that scheme). 

Notes: All claims must be accompanied by a VAT receipt, not a sales voucher. The school is required to return any unspent funds at the end of the academic year.  

Bursary payments are also subject to conditions of good attendance (i.e. 97% +) and/or standards of behaviour and a declaration that you have provided accurate and complete information.
