Enrichment courses
We take a holistic approach to learning that equips students with qualifications and skills for work and life to help them succeed in whatever post-18 pathway they choose. Future employers and universities regard this enrichment highly.
All Sixth Form students take one enrichment course plus Personal Development lessons.
The enrichment options are:
Core mathematics
It supports the content in other subjects like the sciences, geography, psychology, and business. By studying core mathematics, students will have a wider choice of career pathways and be better equipped for many university courses.
Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
The EPQ introduces students to independent project management, highly regarded by universities and employers. Students develop planning, research, critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and presentation skills through this course. The qualification is equivalent to an AS Level.
Languages for business
A fresh and innovative qualification approved by Ofqual. This qualification is all about being hands-on and relevant, fostering independent, confident, and skilled linguists. It motivates learners to leverage their language abilities for career growth, economic advantages, and a competitive edge in the worldwide job market.
Sports Leadership qualification
This course gives students the opportunity to learn and demonstrate important life skills such as effective communication and organisation while learning to coach and deliver physical activities to all ages within our local community.
The Sports Leaders UK Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership can be undertaken in Year 13. It is a nationally recognised qualification worth 16 UCAS points.
Volunteering award
Getting involved in volunteering can really boost your confidence. It’s a chance to step out of your comfort zone, try something different, and feel accomplished. Plus, you get to make a positive impact, connect with people from different age groups, become part of a community, acquire new skills that you can use in various situations, take on exciting challenges, and, most importantly, have a great time doing it!
Personal development
We aim to ensure our students leave us in Year 13 as mature, confident and responsible members of society ready to take on the world.
As part of the Dallam Sixth Form curriculum, students focus on and develop additional skills and qualities that will considerably impact their personal growth. We expect all our sixth formers to undertake aspects of the following areas of personal development during their time with us:
- careers and finance
- citizenship and ethics
- healthy living
- personal safety
- personal wellbeing
- relationships and sex education.
