Year 12 Students Explore Future Pathways at UCAS Discovery Manchester
Our Year 12 students enjoyed an inspiring and informative visit to UCAS Discovery Manchester on Wednesday, where they explored the wide range of opportunities available to them after sixth form.
Held at Manchester Central, the event is one of the UK’s largest university and careers exhibitions, bringing together thousands of students alongside representatives from more than 150 universities, colleges and conservatoires. It also features a dedicated employer and apprenticeship zone where students can speak directly with organisations about degree apprenticeships and alternative routes into their chosen careers.
Throughout the day, our students had the opportunity to speak face-to-face with university representatives and apprenticeship providers, asking thoughtful questions about courses, entry requirements, student life and career pathways. These conversations helped them build a clearer picture of the many options available after sixth form.
Students were also able to explore subject spotlight sessions and careers advice areas, offering valuable insights into different degree subjects and the application process. UCAS advisers were on hand to provide guidance on topics such as personal statements, entry requirements and making informed decisions about post-18 pathways.
Visits like this are an important part of our careers programme at Dallam, helping students to think carefully about their future and begin planning their next steps with confidence. Whether considering university, apprenticeships or other career routes, experiences like UCAS Discovery give students the information and inspiration they need to make informed choices.
And of course, no UCAS event would be complete without returning with plenty of free tote bags and bucket hats collected along the way!
