Year 11 student plays for the King
On 09 February, Year 11 student Lydia Harris represented Dallam School with distinction when she performed for King Charles III at an exclusive event hosted by the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire at Samlesbury Hall.
Lydia was selected as part of a quartet drawn from the Lancashire Youth Symphony Orchestra; a significant achievement in itself. The musicians, all Yamaha Ambassadors, performed to an invited audience at this high-profile occasion.
Following the performance, the King spoke with the students, praising their musicianship and asking about their aspirations for the future, including whether they hoped to pursue music as a career.
Reflecting on the experience, Lydia said:
“It was a great honour to play to the King and a day I will never forget.“
Tim Rogers, Head of the Lancashire Music Service, also commended the group’s performance:
“They all performed incredibly well, especially given the high-profile nature of the event, and were amazing ambassadors for Lancashire County Council, the music service and their schools. I also received lots of positive feedback from guests regarding their performance.”
We are immensely proud of Lydia’s achievement and the way she represented both Dallam School and Lancashire on such a memorable occasion.
