Get ready for World Book Day 2025
World Book Day 2025 is just around the corner, and we have an action-packed week lined up to celebrate the joy of reading! Taking place on Thursday, 6th March, this year’s event week promises inspiring author visits, creative workshops, and plenty of fun activities to bring stories to life.
Meet the Author! Monday 3rd March
We are thrilled to welcome a special guest author, Stewart Foster, writer of Can You Feel the Noise? and The Perfect Parent Project, to Dallam. Year 7 and Year 9 students will have the chance to attend exclusive presentations and book signings in the Hall, making this a fantastic opportunity to meet a professional writer and gain insights into the world of storytelling.
- Year 7 Presentation & Book Signing: Period 1
- Creative Writing Workshop: Periods 2 & 3 (selected Year 7 students)
- Year 9 Presentation & Book Signing: Period 4 & 5
School wide readathon: Monday 3rd – Friday 7th March
All students in Years 7, 8, and 9 will take part in a sponsored readathon, raising money for charity while diving into their favourite books. Sponsor cards will be distributed from 10th February. Let’s see how many pages we can turn!
World Book Day – 6th March
On the big day itself, the whole school will embrace the magic of reading with a range of exciting activities:
Whole School Read: Everyone stops for a shared reading experience during Period 2.
Staff Dress-Up Competition: Teachers will transform into book characters — who will win the best-dressed prize?
Guess the Voice Challenge: Can you identify which teacher is reading from a famous book?
Library Activities & Quizzes: Get involved in book-themed challenges throughout the day.
Book-Themed Lunch: Enjoy a menu inspired by Jurassic Park!
Get involved
We’re looking forward to seeing all students and staff joining the fun by dressing up, chatting about their favourite reads, and taking part in the “Read Your Way” photo competition. Plus, don’t forget to collect your £1 World Book Day voucher from the Library to grab a free book.
World Book Day is about sparking a love of reading. Stay tuned for more updates, and get ready for a week filled with stories, creativity, and fun.
