World Book Day 2025: A Celebration of Reading
World Book Day was a fantastic celebration of all things literary, filled with creativity, competitions, and a shared love for reading.
Staff and students embraced the day with enthusiasm, dressing up as beloved book characters. Mr. Surtees stole the show, winning Best Dressed Staff Member for his brilliant portrayal of The Enormous Crocodile. Students were also really pleased to receive their £1 World Book Day vouchers and free books.
The Read Your Way competition showcased students’ love of reading in unique settings. Congratulations to our winners:
First place: Jack Litten – reading in a cave
Second place: Ava Willis – balancing on a paddleboard
Third place: Erin Wild – enjoying a book with her hamster
Another highlight was the Guess the Staff Voice challenge, where students had to identify teachers reading aloud. Form 10D were impressive – they got all 15 voices correct!
Throughout the day, the Library was buzzing with creative activities and competitions, with plenty of prizes up for grabs. Our lunch menu took inspiration from Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, which was a roaring success. Our KS3 Readathon was also a triumph, raising £370 (and counting!) for Read for Good.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part — here’s to another year of reading adventures!
