Students inspired by NHS careers visit
We were delighted to welcome Hannah from the NHS into Dallam School for a fantastic day of careers learning and inspiration.
Hannah shared insight into the 350+ different careers available within the NHS, helping students to see the incredible breadth of opportunities on offer. From clinical roles to behind-the-scenes specialist careers, students were able to understand just how many different pathways exist within one of the country’s most important organisations.
The day began with a careers breakfast for our Sixth Form students, giving them the opportunity to hear more about future options and ask questions about routes into NHS professions. This was followed by a series of interactive workshops with all of Year 10, where students explored career pathways into the NHS in more detail.
A particular highlight of the day was the chance for students to step into the shoes of first responders, learning how important decisions are made when prioritising patients and responding to different situations. It was a valuable way for students to gain a deeper understanding of the responsibility, teamwork and quick thinking required in healthcare roles.
One Sixth Form student said:
“It was really interesting to hear how many different careers there are in the NHS. It made me realise there are lots of routes into healthcare that I hadn’t thought about before.”
A Year 10 student added:
“The first responder activity was really good. It showed how quickly you have to make decisions and how important teamwork is when helping patients.”
It was a really valuable and inspiring day for everyone involved, and we are very grateful to Hannah for giving up her time to work with our students.
At Dallam School, we are committed to helping young people understand the wide range of opportunities available to them and to raising their aspirations for the future.
Thank you, Hannah, and the NHS, for such an engaging and informative visit.
