Introducing Matilda at Dallam School
Libby Green and Annabelle Gough have recently been cast as Matilda in “Matilda Jr” – coming March 2025! We’re busy rehearsing. But we’re taking you behind the scenes with a first interview from Libby and Annabelle.
What is your favourite musical apart from Matilda?
Libby – Mamma Mia! Annabelle – I love the Wizard of Oz
What made you want to audition for the role of Matilda?
Libby – I love being on stage and I might as well aim high! Annabelle – I love the show and it’s a brilliant opportunity that I just couldn’t miss.
How did you feel when you found out you were playing Matilda?
Libby – I didn’t believe it was real – it didn’t feel like it was actually happening. Annabelle – I was over the moon, so happy! I genuinely didn’t think I would get it. I thought it was a dream.
What are the challenges that lie ahead?
Libby – learning all the words! Annabelle – yeah and the pressure of getting it right. Libby – I’ve had lines to learn before but never this many!
What is your favourite song from the show?
Annabelle – “Quiet” because it is a really nice flowy song. Libby – yeah me too, I’ve sung it before and it’s a really fun song. Annabelle – And it tells a story which makes it fun to act out.
What are you most excited about?
Annabelle – performing in front of my family as Matilda. Libby – Showing my new friends at Dallam what I can do. Annabelle – I’m also excited about performing with Leon as Miss Trunchbull – he is amazing!
