Dallam leadership development shortlisted for national award
Dallam School’s work to develop confident, purposeful leadership across the school has been shortlisted for a national award.
Our leadership development programme, delivered in partnership with Leader-Connect, has been named a finalist in the Innovation with Impact category at the Leadership Live Awards.
Beginning in October 2025, the programme has seen 21 members of Dallam’s Extended Leadership Team undertake accredited leadership development with Neil Jurd OBE and Leader-Connect, alongside membership of the Institute of Leadership.
Importantly, the programme has been about much more than completing a course. Its principles have become embedded in the way we work as a school influencing our improvement planning, appraisal, professional development and the everyday leadership of teams.
The impact has also been measurable. Staff surveys have shown significant improvements in confidence in leadership, while our recent Ofsted inspection recognised the strength of leadership and governance at Dallam.
Headteacher Steven Henneberry said:
“This is particularly special because it recognises something we have built together.
“We made a deliberate decision to invest in our people and develop leadership at every level. The impact can now be seen not only in our staff feedback, but in the way colleagues lead their teams, support one another and take shared responsibility for making Dallam better.
“To have that work recognised nationally by the Institute of Leadership is something of which we should all be incredibly proud.”
The programme forms part of Dallam’s wider commitment to developing its people and creating the conditions in which both staff and students can succeed.
The winners will be announced at the Leadership Live Awards in Milton Keynes on 29 September.
