Curiosity in Action for British Science Week

Students across Years 7–9 have been celebrating British Science Week by diving into the theme of curiosity, exploring big questions through a series of exciting and hands-on science lessons.

In Physics, students designed and tested their own wind turbines, investigating how renewable energy can be generated more efficiently. Through testing different blade designs and measuring performance, they explored how engineers work to create sustainable energy solutions for the future.

In Biology, our budding space scientists took on the challenge of designing greenhouses for Mars. Students considered what plants would need to survive on another planet and how scientists might create the right conditions to grow food and sustain life far from Earth.

Meanwhile in Chemistry, students tested different protective materials and designs to keep valuable objects safe. They explored which structures could best protect precious items, even imagining how they might safeguard famous artworks like the Mona Lisa.

It has been fantastic to see so much creativity, teamwork and scientific thinking in action throughout the week. Experiences like these help bring science to life and inspire students to ask questions, experiment and think like real scientists.

Take a look at some of the brilliant work our students have been doing this week!
