Full house every night!

Full house every night!

“Amazing and talented individuals.”

“Very funny.”

“Costumes were lovely.”

“Impressive that they could remember all those lines.”

These were just some of the fantastic comments from the audiences who watched our Sixth Form production of Billy Liar.  We had a full house on each of the three nights.  The shows took place in our Drama Studio.  Audiences commented that the space felt intimate and professional.

Here’s a little more information about the play and the cast…

The play

Keith Waterhouse’s Billy Liar was published in 1959, and captures brilliantly the claustrophobic atmosphere of a small town.  It tells the story of Billy Fisher, a Yorkshire teenager unable to stop lying – especially to his three girlfriends.  Trapped by his boring job and working-class parents, Billy finds that his only happiness lies in grand plans for his future and fantastical daydreams.

The cast and creatives

  • Billy Fisher – Evan A
  • Arthur Crabtree – Tom H (Year 11)
  • Barbara – Sian P
  • Rita – Hannah B
  • Alice Fisher – Erin L
  • Geoffrey Fisher – Patrick B
  • Florence Boothroyd – Isla T
  • Liz – Megan E
  • Director – Mr E Johnson
  • Costume, hair and make-up – Miss A Feben

Thank you to all of our school community for their part in this successful and entertaining production – from the cast, creatives and everyone who had a hand in building the set, selling the tickets and to our audiences for coming to see it. Being part of a school production gives students great ‘soft skills’ that will be useful to them in their personal and professional lives, skills such as confidence, teamwork and organisation.

Our next Creative Arts event will be on 22 June.
