A-level and BTEC success
Dallam School students are celebrating after a strong set of A-level and BTEC results saw top grades matched by significant gains in student progress.
The 53-strong class of 2026 met the school’s target grades overall, while some students achieved up to a full grade above expectations and particularly strong improvements were seen among SEN and BTEC students. The vast majority of those opting for university studies secured their first choice place.
Students with special educational needs achieved significant improvements in both average grades and value added, while value added also improved across BTEC qualifications.
The results have enabled students across the year group to secure the grades they need to move on to their chosen post-18 destinations.
Among those celebrating outstanding academic results are:
Boarder Lilly Ni, who achieved A*s in Biology and Chemistry and an A in Further Mathematics. Lilly will now go on to study Medicine at Aberdeen.
Rebecca Lowe achieved an average grade of A, including an A* in her Extended Project Qualification and As in Mathematics, Physics and Product Design.
Summer Dawson also achieved an excellent set of results, with an A in Business, A in Sociology and A* in Criminology.
Dallam is also celebrating students whose results reflect exceptional progress during their time in the Sixth Form. Imogen Phillips (Head Girl), Harry Shaw and Archie Stewart achieved more than a full grade above expected progress across all of their subjects.
Headteacher Steve Henneberry said:
“What pleases me most is the breadth of achievement behind these results. We have students achieving at the very highest level, but we are also seeing young people make significantly more progress than may have been expected of them.
“The improvement among our SEN students and those studying BTEC qualifications is particularly important. A strong Sixth Form is not simply about top grades; it is about helping every student move forward from their own starting point, leaving them ready for what comes next.
“Their Sixth Form achievements and experiences in and out of the classroom, alongside the qualifications they have received today, will make them highly valuable to universities, employers and the wider world.”
Head of Sixth Form Kim Forsyth said:
“Today is about celebrating the hard work, determination and resilience that has gone into every result. We are incredibly proud not only of our students’ academic achievements, but also of the character they have developed throughout their time with us. They have contributed positively to our school community throughout their time with us.”
