Evenings and weekends
After school, and into the evenings, our boarders are kept busy with a variety of activities.
A typical weekday evening will begin with a tutor group meeting which is led by one of our experienced house parents. This provides the boarders with an opportunity to talk about any ideas or suggestions they may have for the boarding community.
After the tutor group meeting the boarders will enjoy a delicious homecooked evening meal in our Dining Hall.
We offer supervised prep (homework) sessions in our purpose-built classrooms which are fitted with IT equipment, to enable the boarding pupils to access their schoolwork and communicate with teachers.
Our very popular ‘Tuck Shop’ is open 4 nights per week and stocks lots of yummy snacks.
Evening activities include:
- Football
- Basketball
- Bingo
- Baking
- Board games
- Quizzes
- Movie nights
- And much more….
Our Sixth Form boarders have their own dedicated common room, which has a kitchenette. This allows our Sixth Form boarders to cook with their friends, socialise over dinner and expand their knowledge of cookery, before they head off to university.
On Friday evenings, we run a weekly supermarket trip. The children love the opportunity to head out to buy all the essentials they will need for the following week – it is a very popular outing!
We go on one excursion every weekend and we have been to places such as:
- Manchester
- Edinburgh
- Bowling
- Walks in the Lake District
- Shopping trips to Kendal
- Footgolf
- Trampolining
- Theme parks
Our weekly trips are a great way to see more of our surrounding area and to enjoy new experiences.
We also offer an array of activities over the weekend from swimming to tennis and from movie nights to quizzes.
