Update on the precautionary chemical disposal at our Heversham site
“Over the weekend, emergency services safely resolved an isolated incident at Dallam School’s Heversham site involving the discovery of historic chemicals. The chemicals would have been used by pupils of the then grammar school.
“The chemicals, which are believed to be about 50-years-old, were stored in hidden voids underneath a lecture hall building. Because of their age and how they had been stored, they were not subject to modern record keeping and routine inspections.
“When the discovery was made, the fire service, police, and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team became involved. Working over the weekend, the teams successfully identified, secured, and safely disposed of the chemicals by Sunday.
“At no point was there an immediate danger to the public, and we thank the emergency services and specialist teams for their swift, professional support in dealing with the historic materials.”
